Photographic Fiction

aka Prompts, Prisms, & Microfiction

By: Robert R. Burch, with Alma occasionally holding his hand.

The Overture: Turning the Picture on its Head

They say that "a picture is worth a thousand words." But at Coffee Break Fiction, we think a thousand words is sometimes too long for a sharp mind on a short break.

In the past, we called this section "Prompts & Prisms" because it served as a repository for imagery prompted by Robert that passed through Alma’s lens to create a spectrum of collaborative art.

But our methodology has evolved. We no longer use images merely to decorate a pre-written storyline. Instead, we start with the image and let it dictate the prose.

The result is Photographic Microfiction: highly disciplined, 100-word stories entirely inspired by a single visual frame.
